Usage of elder pitch for cleaning of diamond styluses

Only the cut surface of the elder pitch is used to clean the diamond. Cleaning may only be carried out in the direction of the arrow, as marked in yellow in the picture below.

It is important to ensure that the contact surface of the elder pitch is always free of contamination. Furthermore, make sure that the “wooden” parts of the elder pitch never get in contact with the diamonds.

The freshly cut face of the elderberry pith is briefly dipped in acetone and is thus prepared for cleaning the diamond.
